Finally, Kasab is gone, but not forever…Because the state sponsored factories that manufacture Kasab are still active and operational in Pakistan. The perpetrators, camps and masterminds are still scot free. while we rejoice the victory of judiciary over one Kasab, we must be aware of the fact that there might be hundreds of Kasab in the making.
30 crore poorer India hanged Kassab just week before the fourth anniversary of 26/11 attacks. As Kasab was hanged to death at the Yerawada central prison at 7:30am on wednesday, those who lost their loved ones in Mumbai attacks, finally got justice!!
With Kasab finally pushed to gallows, all the 10 terrorists who executed the Mumbai terror attacks on the night of 26th November,2008 have been sent to hell. The recent execution has sparked off a new controversy with some questioning the validity of capital punishment. Beyond doubt, capital punishment can’t undo things. Lives lost are lost for ever. But those who create mayhem and kill 166 people, including 17 policemen and NSG commandos, don’t deserve to live. Hence, capital punishment meted out to Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist who could be captured alive, is completely justified. So after 4 long years of legal battle, finally at the dawn of Wednesday, India sent out a clear message to Pakistan and to every terrorist outfit that Justice can be delayed but never denied.
Finally, Kasab is gone, but not forever… He may come back to haunt India again. Because the state sponsored factories that manufacture Kasab are still active and operational in Pakistan. The perpetrators, camps and masterminds are still scot free. They might have only grown stronger by now. while we rejoice the victory of judiciary over one Kasab, we must be aware of the fact that there might be hundreds of Kasab in the making.
Kasab typically represented uneducated youth from a poor family in Pakistan, who wanted quick money. With LeT & JuD running many universities and schools in Pakistan, they have access to such deplorable youth. Once Kasab got into the camps of these Jihadis, he was brain washed and was made to believe that India was against Islam, that India progressed at Pakistan’s cost, that harming India would help his Kaum. The point that I want to drive home is, hanging Kasab doesn’t end the poverty, unemployment and illiteracy in Pakistan. Neither does it close the Jihadi camp, nor does it discourage the masterminds of 26/11. There are millions still in Pakistan who are poor and uneducated and can easily be swayed and So what we have achieved in these last four years and prior 61 years is just the tip of the ice-berg. This is not the logical end to the case. Martyrs of 26/11 still await justice.
Hafiz Saeed the LeT chief and mastermind of 26/11 is still at large and roams free in Pakistan. Interpol notice from India and $10 million bounty from US have not been sufficient to put Pakistan government to action. Zaki-ur-ehman Lakhvi, the operational commander of LeT, was in the control room and co-coordinated entire blood battle. India has provided enough evidence against him but with no fruitful outcome. Earlier this year, Pakistan accepted his involvement in attacks but what we need is some action which is far from sight at present. Sajid Mir, Abdur Rehman Hasim Syed, Abu Hamza, Zarar Shah are few other masterminds who are yet to be brought to books. When Kasab was hanged, Pakistan’s interior minister came up with a optimistic statement that terrorist like Kasab deserve no better. Well if Pakistan is truly against terrorism, why is its agency ISI promoting terrorism and hate campaigns against India. Double standards and inaction by Pakistan should no longer be tolerated. Pakistan will have to answer for why did ISI officers Major Sameer Ali and Major Iqbal help LeT hatch this plot and what were they doing in the control room during the attacks.
This has been proven beyond doubt that Pakistan is safe heaven for terrorists. When Osama could live for years just hours away from the capital, what can we expect from the government and state agencies.
It’s high time now to expect a sudden change of heart from Pakistan. So only option left is to change our approach. All the attempts through diplomatic channels so far have been futile. Its time now to act tough, set an ultimatum and snub all ties with Pakistan. If things still don’t work, we should appeal to international bodies to isolate Pakistan completely. If US can aggressively push its cause against Iraq post 9/11, why can’t we emulate the same against Pakistan. No one wants events like 9/11 and 26/11 to reoccur. If state promotes terrorism and terrorists get free passes as such, harmony and tranquility of entire world is at stake. Death of Kasab is not an end but just the beginning, lets keep the stone rolling and bury Kasab forever.
Its NOW or NEVER!!
