While most of the cricket experts had written him off and critics were skeptical about Sehwag’s form, Sehwag has proved once again why he is considered one of the most dangerous batsman in the world cricket. Today as India played against West Indies in the 4th ODI at Indore, Sehwag looked in good touch right from the word go. In his swashbuckling innings of 219 (149 balls), he cleared the fence for 7 times and dispatched the ball for four 25 times. It was an absolute delight to watch Sehwag play as he ruthlessly dispatched the balls to the boundary. Fielders looked helpless and bowlers could do no better. It was severe.
With the help of elegant innings from the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’, India went on to pile 418, its highest against any team. On a day when plethora of new records were made, Sehwag not only joined Sachin Tendulkar in the elite group of ‘magical 200’, he also became the highest scorer in the history of ODI.
Indian Scoreboard tells the entire story
While experts initially criticized Sehwag’s decision to bat first on winning the toss, Sehwag showed why he was itching to grab the willow. Timings were perfect and placement could not have been any better. Though Sehwag was dropped once, he never looked back even once after it. Unlike in Sachin’s case where he was running short of time, Sehwag completed his double century with 5 overs to spare.
